This role offers a hands-on opportunity to lead advanced additive manufacturing initiatives, translating complex designs into high-precision, 3- to 5-axis robotic welds. The DED Applications Engineer will drive production excellence, mastering build preparation, slicing, and programming for Directed Energy Deposition (DED) and Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) platforms. The position involves close collaboration with engineering teams to refine processes, ensure metallurgical integrity, and optimize production pipelines. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, highly skilled with industrial robotic systems, and motivated to set industry-leading standards in additive manufacturing. This role also includes mentoring team members and serving as the go-to expert for DED/WAAM processes.. Accountabilities. . Program, operate, and maintain 3- to 5-axis industrial robotic welding systems for additive manufacturing.. . Prepare, slice, and optimize builds on DED/WAAM platforms, ensuring precision and repeatability.. . Utilize CAD/CAM software such as Siemens NX, Mastercam, Sculpt Print, and WAMSoft to develop and refine production pipelines.. . Apply metallurgical knowledge and thermal dynamics expertise to predict and control outcomes.. . Lead and mentor team members on end-to-end additive production workflows.. . Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and improve production processes.. . Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and operational procedures.. . Contribute to process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing center.. . . Hands-on experience with industrial additive manufacturing systems such as GEFERTECH and AML3D.. . Strong understanding of welding automation, robotic arc welding, and offline programming.. . Proficiency in CAD/CAM software: Siemens NX, Mastercam, Sculpt Print, and WAMSoft preferred.. . Solid foundation in metallurgy and thermal dynamics as they relate to welding and additive processes.. . U.S. Citizenship is required due to customer and regulatory requirements.. .
